Trying a New Technique Today...

It is always exciting to open the kiln and see the fruits of your latest labors. I spent hours on Wednesday painting two 12" glass bowls with enamel paints, fused them on Thursday and hoped to be able to slump them into their final bowl forms today. I love the Multipen enamel paints for glass. Super easy to work with.

Although my Chrysanthemum design is super sweet, I should have taken the design out further toward the edge of the glass. (Not showing the design until the bowl ids done). The result of not going to the edge...several good sized air bubbles. I would like to reduce those in size, so I will probably have to re-fire the piece. I hate firing up the beast for one piece so I need something else to put into the kiln and fuse...I think I will try kiln carving.

I have the glass...scrap that is too big to turn into frit...to small to turn into a bowl. I have fiber paper. I have the time today. I think I will go for it.

Gorilla Marketing...

Okay, today I have spent at least three hours on the computer. Posting, updating, tweeting. Maintaining a web presence, or at least a current and up to date web presence, takes more work than maintaining a retail studio space. I have spent three hours and I am not even close to finished for the day. 13 sites and counting...oh, and the blog...

I have come up with a few items I will be testing on twitter...re-tweet for a discount on the purchase of my art. On Facebook, reposts of my posts or referring friends will earn a discount on the purchase of my art.

I also plan to link to at least 15 more sites. Some are membership based and charge a fee. I figure it has to be worth it...it is much less than paying rent at d'Art. Plus side, I have noticed, is the site tracking. Etsy has given me hundreds of site and webpage visits this month... about 50-100 per day. Last time I spent a day at d'Art....not a single visitor....extremely frustrating considering it costs hundreds a month to occupy space there...not exactly the thriving arts venue it is supposed to be.

Okay, back to posting...

Initial blog post...

Do I really think I can figure this out, or am I just kidding myself?
